NLP Training - First Post

Hello, welcome to my NLP Training Blog!  I have had an interest in nlp training for many years.  My first introduction to nlp was through Anthony Robbins and I have read many other nlp books through the years, and even a couple by NLP founders John Grinder and Richard Bandler.

My main interest in studying NLP was for self improvement purposes, but NLP has uses for all aspects of your life.  NLP has been used for increasing sales performance, picking up women, and even by sports teams.

Before I go to far, let me explain what NLP stands for.  NLP stands for Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  NLP focuses on how people use language both internal and external to interact with their worlds.

Bandler and Grinder thought there was a connection between neurological processes and language and behavioral patterns.

They created NLP in the 1970’s and was promoted as a rapid and effective form of psycho therapy.  In fact NLP has cured thousands of people of lifelong phobias in minutes where traditional therapies would take years of sessions to try and cure.

These rapid cures associated with NLP is part of the reason Tony Robbins gained prominence so fast.  He was an avid fan of NLP and would cure people on public TV of life long phobias.

NLP was later promoted as the science of excellence.  It was said that by  studying or modeling the best, most successful people in their fields, anyone could achieve similar results.  For example if you learn the thought processes and actions of the most successful golfer you could more quickly become successful at golf.

As the old saying goes, “don’t reinvent the wheel.”

Unfortunately NLP has not enjoyed much support in the scientific community.  Their claim is that their is not much empirical evidence supporting their great claims.  Because of this NLP is looked down on sort of by professionals.

However, many private psychotherapists and counselors use NLP with great success in their practices and even advertise that they have had NLP training.

Whatever your view of NLP training is I believe it has helped me in my life, and I think it can help your life as well.  I hope to have lots of more NLP information for you and how it can improve both of our lives.
